I caught a river minnow (still live) for my 3 year old eastern mud turtle, will he be able to eat it? ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1469381962.512509.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1469382008.328172.jpg

You'll have to stun the fish. Mud turtles aren't great swimmers and they won't expend too much energy chasing down a fast-moving fish.

he should be able to beat it but it will most likely be a very gory death. My cousins when they were younger used to smack the fish up against the side of the pond and that would stun them long enough for the turtle to catch them. holding them in your fingers is a good way to feed slower moving Turtles I do that with my Reeves turtle all the time

If you put the minnow in the tank, he will get it eventually. They are patient.
