So recently I have been feeding her spring mix with baby carrots chopped up and recently her lamp with the red color died so I went to go get a new one. I got a Phillips lamp that is a normal color and is 90 Watts and operates at 72. She seems to be doing okay but I want to make sure I’m not making any mistakes! I would hate for anything bad to happen! IMG_1553570117.273471.jpgIMG_1553570170.691085.jpgIMG_1553570195.629992.jpg

That's a real pretty little tortoise.

For the tortoises that I keep that originate from the rain forest, or the edges of the rain forest, I use the tube type fluorescent UVB bulb like this:

You can buy the light plus the fixture to mount the light in at lightyourreptiles.com.

Tortoises need UVB in order to make their calcium work inside their bodies.

Then, for heat I use this:

This ceramic heat emitter (CHE) can be mounted in a regular clamp fixture, but I don't use the clamp, I hang the light. Those clamps have been known to fail and fall into the enclosure. Because the CHE gets so hot, it needs to be mounted in a ceramic fixture, not a Bakelite (plastic) fixture.
