Hello All,

I have a question that may sound silly but I need to know. I just adopted a cat from my local humane society and it has been diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection, I am treating it with antibiotics. However, I was wondering if it is still safe to have my redfoot tortoise roam around the same areas as this cat?? Can a tortoise catch a respiratory infection from a cat? I am afraid to take her out of her enclosure now, but she loves to explore!

Jumping from your cat to your tortoise is unlikely. That said, it would be best to practice clean hygiene in potently infected areas. Can your cat be confined perhaps to your bedroom?
