Hi, I've had my russian tortoise for a while and I've always sprinkled a little reptivite on his food a few times a week. I have read differing things about vitamins, including that possibly centrum for humans (crushed) might be the best thing? I'm about to order something new since I"m running low and also because my stuff is old. Anyone want to steer me in the right direction? I also recently started scraping a little cuttlebone onto his food. He doesn't seem to like it though.

I supplement vitamins when feeding baby tortoises, but never have given it to adult tortoises. I've heard of people using Centrum vitamins for their tortoises, but I wouldn't know the correct dosage, so can't recommend it.

Which vitamins would you recommend Yvonne, is there any particular brand you use?

If your adult tortoise is outside part of the year and gets a variety of greens and weeds, with cuttlebone to nibble on if they want (some torts never do), then you don't necessarily need supplemental vitamins.
However, one really good product (for overwintering, or in a tortoise that is behind nutritionally), Carolina Pet Supply sells a powdered product made from ground up weeds. Very safe, and nutritional!
