I live in Florida and the weather right now is all over the place. I work from 10:30-6. I am worried about it getting too hot in the tortoise room. When I am home I open the window to let in natural light and a nice breeze but I work 5-6 days a week. Is it advisable to put the heat lamp on a timer to turn off between 2-5? I have found that when it is on Leonard's enclosure gets to where the cool side is lower 90's!!! I am working on getting him a tortoise table and they have a huge outdoor area but because of his URTI and the cool temps I cannot put him outside yet. Any suggestions are put to good use and appreciated. Thank you.

Insulate the window and room and keep the sun from warming it up too much. Then regulate the temps yourself. Use thermostats where needed to shut down hearing elements when things get too warm. Reptile thermostats cost around $30 and run up to three bulbs or heating elements.

BTW, time to change your location on your profile unless FL has a city named "Texas" that I don't know about. :)

Looked at pet supermart and three of the smaller places around here... I guess I need to make the hour trip to a bigger city or order off the internet... in the mean time I'm back to work! Darn it!
