My baby Boris has gained .2 oz in a week, I haven't been able to find any posts on a healthy weight for a 9 month sulcata (boris is now 3.2 oz) so I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Also as far as his hide goes I'm sure you can see from the photos he won't be fitting in and out if the perfectly humid one he has now. I bought a what I think is crappy hide from petco and I'm sure I'll be returning it soon, but if anyone uses it for their sully and is a fan please let me know.
Thanks tortoise folk!

I haven't been able to find an average weight for a certain age either, but that's because it all depends. Sulcatas grow at such different speeds that there is no average. My sully, Patton, was at 2.7 ounces a week ago and is around the same age as yours. I wouldn't worry as long as it's eating the proper diet and is healthy. Oh yeah and is staying hydrated.

I have a hide from PetSmart that is a large porcelain tortoise shell. I would recommend it to anyone with a smaller tort. It is fairly large and holds in heat and humidity really well. For us sully owners it won't last too long :), but is great for at least a few more months.

Great looking baby by the way.

(3.2 oz.) 90 grams is on the small side for 9 months. Not unusual if your tortoise was started dry. Nothing to do about it and no reason to worry about it. Just give your tortoise the best conditions possible and enjoy his/her company along the way.

For $1.82 you can get a black dishwashing tub from WalMart. Flip it upside down and cut out a door hole, and they make great humid hides.

Thank you thank you thank you! I was thinking that had to be the reason, but to hear a baby the same age is close to the same size makes me incredibly happy. And I'll definitely keep an eye out for the shell whenever I go back. It sounds pretty close to what he has now, which is great. Again thank you,

And I'll let Boris know you said so [WINKING FACE]

Thanks tom, I'll be upgrading at Walmart probably tomorrow. And yes he was definitely started dry so that makes plenty of sense. Thank you for the knowledge it goes dually noted!

We used that kind of hide for our rabbits when we had them, they probabLy won't work for humidity purposes.

Okay thanks, I've seen a couple of people use them on here claiming high humidity. So I wanted to hear it from someone who had had one, for a rabbit or not. :)
