Weight?

Hi All,
I have just weight and measured my 6 year old Herman Tort Valerie. She now weights 375g and measures 10cm. Does that sound OK?

Have you measured correctly That is much to heavy for a tortoise only 10cm long.

I have measured the under side of her shell, from where her head comes out to where her tail comes out. Have I done it right?

I have just had a look on the net on how to measure and I think I will try again tomorrow. I think she is actually about 2cm more than I first thought.

You can measure the bottom of her shell (plastron), just go out to the edge of her carapace (top shell) past her tail.

OK here goes. I have weight and measured her again this morning after she has had a poop. She now weights 365g and is about 11.5cm long. Does that sound better?

Brilliant! Thank you so much. I hate to think that I am doing something wrong as I would like to get her a friend in the summer.

It's best to get a friend now, as you will have to quarantine the new tortoise for 3 to 6 months before introducing them.
