DJ ... good question,..( depending on how you view the season ) Example ... 2011 the Rf's/cherries start to lay Sept. and will continue to Feb, 2012. But there is always the oddball female ( in my case the hypo momma ) ..who tends to lay much later in the season and fewer times.
So I get eggs about 6-8 months out of the year .....

You've got a great set up there JD. This has been the best "Winter" I can remember. We always get SOME nice days, but this year we've had nothing but nice days. We only hit 76 up here today.

Why Thank Ya Mr. Tom! .... and yes .. so far the winter has been sweet~ ... as opposed to a couple years back , I lost alot of nice plumieras due to the cold !
Although with these nice clear days , you and I both know its darn right chilly at night , hence my " Cha Ching" Elec. Bill~:p
I swear them torts live better than I do ~....;)

Oh yeah. We've been near freezing every night up here. That's one reason why I like things underground or heavily insulated. Keeps the bills lower. :D

yes and Great Idea! .. (I've buried a few dog loo' in my days~:p) . With the RF " hut" ...its pretty good size inside 10x8 with a 9' lid. So I kept that in mind and built one of my " hides" aka " da coffin" to go inside the main " hut" . That alone is 36" x80" 36" tall , and is heated as well . I find during winter most of them inside there ( but not all , it's funny how some of them DEMAND "their spot" within the hut itself . The ambient hut temp is 76-80 night , with the internal coffin hitting the higher 80’s . Inside warm water vaporizers, with a flick of a switch can get humidity high 80's in a matter of mins.

I'm happy to say that lower NY has not gotten anything real since Halloween (weird right?!) I'm hoping it's not made up for in February, March and April, yeah, April snow. It's happened.

I'm so jealous of tortoise keepers that live in the south and southwest!
...Man ....O' Man ....what is all that white stuff? ...:p

GB ... I gotta hand it to you and the others ....there is NO WAY I could live where the weather is like that....I'd need a heatlamp hoodie'.....to stay warm all day!

You could really get to dislike some people, N2TORTS. January with sunshine and warmth... I've had the lights on all day here... and I am not going to follow the British tradition of discussing the weather! Harrumph!

We haven't got the other extreme like GBtortoises either... well not this year thank goodness. Just gloom.
