I caught one of them the other day, the guy at the pet place wouldn't tell me what it ate because it's apparently endangered, so I let it go, but I see these things all the time around here.

well all I know is in california it is illegal to own one in any way shape or form, I do not know about oregon, but if they are plentiful in oregon there are probably some conservationist that would like to know it. :)

Apparently it's illegal here to, that's why I let him go, I don't know if they are really plentiful around here or not, but I see them somewhat frequently around here.

I am in Oregon too. The Western pond turtle is an endangered species and you really shouldn't mess with them. They are tho a very sweet shy turtle and I really think they are great. I cared for one that had been run over by a lawn mower and only had 2.5 legs and she was just as sweet as could be. So please be respectful to them for me...thanks

I am, I had no Idea what it was when I caught it, I let him go back where I found him as soon as I found out, there are actually quite a few of them in Cave Junction, I found a dead one the other day.
