@Yvonne G can you tell if it's a boy/girl? It has yellow eyes. My guess is a girl but I am not an expert

Not always true. Some females have red eyes.

Amen to that. I once had a for sure adult female box turtle with red eyes. Since boys don't lay eggs he was a she.

So we haven’t gotten anywhere. I’m just going to assume I have a trans something and it doesn’t really matter as long as I don’t put it with another turtle. she it they him whatever pronoun, she don’t care enjoy. We are enjoying her and that’s all that matters.

I usually stay out of these threads because I can't with any degree of science beyond eye color.

Not sure why hardly anyone didn't tell you this but if it's native to your area you need to put it back where you found it! You should not remove from the wild unless it was severely hurt or injured!

Not big enough enclosure, you took it from the side open wild and put it in a tiny enclosure. It needs to be let loose back in the wild!

Yes it looks like an old wound. You would be proud everywhere we go we take her. We brought her to Lubbock with us this week. My wife had a doctors appointment. We are from Artesia New Mexico and we went to Petsmart and spent $800 on a new terrarium system, so she is well taken care of.

I found mine in Rio Rancho, is yours still doing well?
