When i got up day before yesterday i found my biggest tortoise upside down under his heat lamp,i don't know how long he'd been there but as he's fine now i'm guessing he wasn't there too long, but now i,m scared he's going to do it again in the night and i'll be too late to save him,so would blocking up the door to his hide harm him, because these sleepless nights are really starting to harm me lol

Sounds very scary! Do you mean lock him in the hide under his heat light?Would he be able to move around in the house?

if its warm enough in there. and you let him out.. it wont hurt them.

they have a heat mat in the hide so it's warm enough and they'll only be locked in for about 6 hours at the most

Heat mats can be dangerous for tortoises, especially if it's heating an enclosed space and your tortoise has no way to get away from that heat. I'd recommend against it, personally.

I lock my outdoor adults up every night from about 5pm until 8 or 9am during this time of year. If we are talking about a baby I sometimes block them in their humid hides from about 8pm to 8am.

If there is an area inside the hide where they can get off of the heat mat, it will be fine.

Why is your heat lamp on all night? Is it a colored bulb of some sort? All species need it dark at night. Some species need it cooler at night and others need it warm. Which species are we talking about here?
