Working on a New Project

I am in the process of building an informational site for Sulcatas. I am building this because there is so much outdated information out there and some bad information as well. When I first adopted ours I had a hard time gathering information and some of it was so contradicting it was very aggravating. It wasn't until I found this discussion board I was really able to put things together so that I could raise our new family member correctly. But even here you have to really dig to find all the information. So I thought about putting all the good information into one place. I have already talked to one member and they have agreed to help me with pictures and content. With permission I am also intending to linking to these forums so that people still have a place to go and ask questions as well. I have already purchased the domain name and the site will be running on my server. I do design websites and really love animals so this is actually a fun project for me.

If this project goes well I might be willing to do more for the different types of tortoises out there. So far for this one I have already did the mock up, banner, structure, some navigation, and am currently starting to put together the content. One things that I keep bouncing around with is the site/banner colors.

The question I have for everyone is who else would be willing to help out with any content, ideas, picture, etc....?

I really hope you can get with aldabraman if you decide to due one for aldabras.. He has helped me with every question I have had... Also Sam from floridainguana has had great success with different species..

It would be interesting to try and do as many of these as possible. A lot will depend on the responses, requests and information that I can obtain from everyone. But as time allows I would try to do as many as possible.

We do have quite a bit of the info in the "important threads" section at the top of the Sulcata section. That way you don't have to dig through the whole forum to find it.

Agree with Yvonne. The info is here on this forum, you just need to look for it. Although it does sound like a good idea. People browsing this forum have the option of joining or just reading the info. If they should have questions, they just need to join and get all their questions answered with the correct info. If they don't understand your websites explanations of how to do things, they may look someplace else and then the incorrect info pops up and the whole bad cycle happens again. Unless you can make yours stand out and pop up above all others, yours is just another site with yet more conflicting info against all the others they have found. With a forum, they can see all the threads and post with pretty much the same info.
Good luck though in what you decide to do.

Thank you for your input and concerns. My goal is for this site to stand out and have all the "good" current information that is out there. I want it to be easy to follow and understand. This is why I posted about this project because I wanted to get the input from everyone on here because of the great information that everyone posts. Im not trying to replace this forum or any other site out there. I am an animal lover and want to put good information out there to hopefully help people just entering or thinking about entering the world of caring for a Sulcata.
