Because we have had several threads with tortoises that have this same problem, it occurs to me that we're dealing with some sort of disease and the tortoise needs to go to a vet and have it tested to find out what it is. I did a 'yellow bump' search, and in the threads that came up, there was no solution offered. We never found out what it is or what causes it. Please take your tortoise to the vet for testing, and be sure to come back here and let us know what was found.

This seems to be a recurring thing lately?

Make sure the vendor/seller is notified and aware of what is going on. If it turns out to be a problem at their end, they need to know. Especially if it's something contagious.

What was the source of your tortoise? Where did you get it?

I talked to one member who has something similar. Some antibiotics from the vet cleared it up.

we saw this here with three that we got in. all three within a week showed these exact same looking bumps. they had to be put on an injectable anti biotic for almost a month to fully resolve it. we tried topical cream and they started to go away and then came back again. our specialist called it "blister disease" which is a sort of general term for a skin infection. these turned out to be bacterial. so what you really need to do is have the vet take a sample and get labs on it to use the proper ab as some ab's do not treat certain things etc.

@mastershake Do you know if anyone else in your neck of the woods is seeing the same thing?

i will find out. we actually run a 501c3 reptile facility / sanctuary here. i will ask around. i do know of a few people who saw this in cali and one in ga who sent me pics of what looked to be the same thing. i can say this was def contagious. one of the three started with it and 1-2 days later the other 2 had it also.

To my knowledge, only one other member on the Forum mentioned a vendor/location in Florida. On the opposite side of the state from you.

the three we had with this came from cali. and i meant people who came in to show us the bumps and ask what they were locally. the person from ga is a friend of a friend who his vet had no idea what they were.

It is most likely the already mentioned yellow fungus. Couldn't find a picture with tortoise but lots of reptile species can have it.
