Hi Carol. I am new and looking into getting a Russian Tortoise. I have been looking and doing my research to make sure I have the appropriate set up for when I get one. I have heard that you breed them. I live in Pennsylvania is shipping possible here and what is the cost? I am not ready to get one yet but I am working on gathering information and learning all I can. When would you have some available?

Hello! Can you make a post in the Adoptions section? More users will see it there. And be careful with new members with recent registrations and post - sometimes people want a free tortoise to sell it next day.
do you still have Russian tortoise hatchlings. I am looking to adopt one if possible???

Hi there. Sorry, I didn't get this until now.
Yes, I have several Russian tortoise hatchlings. They are still quite small, but will be ready to ship in October.
Hi Tom, I rescued a big Sulcata from a neighbor. He wasn't being fed/housed properly. He's approx. 15-16?-weighs about 70 lbs. Need suggestions for housing him in winter. We've kept him in the basement the last two winters but looking for alternative, if possible, because of mess and smell. I'm in NE Ohio. Have you suggestions? Thank you, Donna (Tortilla lover).

My suggestion is to ship him to a hot sunny southern state. There is no practical way to house a tropical giant tortoise in a frozen winter climate.

P.S. I LOVE tortillas too! 😁
Hello, Good pellets for sulcata should be low in protein, high in fiber, right? What % should the protein be? Is 18% protein, 20-26% fiber good? I'm confused about what pellets to use, I'm confused between T balance pellets, JGS premium torto food, Zion nutrimax and Mazuri. The composition and ingredients of the pellets I mentioned earlier are good. so I'm confused, can you give a recommendation?

When mine was little I stuck with the Mazuri LS for him. You have it right though: low starch, low sugar, low protein, low oxalate, high fiber. Now that mine is bigger, I switched over to Purina Mills organic crumbles. I think it's like 2% higher in protein than the Mazuri, but cheaper price.
I got a baby red foot turtle. My first time with a red foot.
I feel lost specially with management temperature and humidity in south Florida. Now is very hot, around 93 degrees and I see the baby inside the hiding spot and not too active. IDK, any recommendations on how manage this extreme temps here ? My plan is keep him outside, but now not too sure if this is ok.
Any recommendations.
Thanks!

Baby tortoise should be housed indoors in controlled conditions. We will help to sort things out, don't worry

UPD: I see your post, nvm :)
hi, I want to ask, is it safe to give Rept shine (shell moisturizer) to the torto shell so it doesn't dry out? Because the humidity in my cage is only 40-53 and I can't increase the humidity in my cage to 80 or above. And I don't want my sulcata pyramiding because the shell is too dry. Please answer

It's easier than posting here I think. Click on forum. Find the category you need. Click on post thread. Then fill in title area, scroll down to be blank box and type your questions or whatever and then scroll further down and click post thread.
I only use my phone too.
You will get more help faster than I can always do. But I don't mind questions either.
