I’m so in love with my sulcata I don’t even have words and I’ve spent a lot of my time researching his species along with others, but he is my first tort so I worry about him every day. He’s 8 months and I know how difficult it can be to take care of a baby tort so I just want to make sure he’s good. Sometimes I notice his face looks dry around it. I do soak him for 10-15 mins almost everyday. Just checking in to make sure he’s okay :) IMG_1523401324.675715.jpgIMG_1523401385.168900.jpg

You can probably soak for longer periods - 30 minutes or more - as long as the water temperature is warm enough.

If you post pictures of your enclosure we can offer feedback.

Right now I only have him in a 20 gallon tank which I know is way too small but it’s the best I can do for now. My dad and grandpa are planning to build me a tortoise table for him but I don’t know how soon. My family has never had much money but Ollie (my tort) was a gift so I didn’t have time to set everything up before bringing him home. I’m doing my best and hope to get a bigger enclosure soon. The lighting is good and I spray his tank a couple times a day to try and monitor the humidity.

Tortoise tables are no good for baby tortoises. It is impossible to hold humidity. You need a closed chamber, because spraying won’t do much without one.

I have cats in the home that don’t bother him but I would never have an open enclosure with them around, the table was going to be made to be completely closed.
