Yearling Spit Up?

I’ve raised several tortoise, but never encountered this problem.

I was feeding my yearling and he was chewing his food, but seemed to spit up while chewing. A bunch of water came up and he continued chewing. I stopped him to look at him.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this before?

He’s active and normal otherwise. No swollen eyes.

Could there be something stuck in his throat or nose? Should I run him to the vet?

I also wasn’t sure if he could have drank too much.

He continued trying to eat right after this happened, but it happened again.

@Yvonne G any ideas? I've seen our sulcata spit food out, but never seen any liquids when this happens. Usually he just didn't like whatever he was eating.

I hope your little guy is okay!

We have a vet appointment scheduled for tomorrow, but I would still love to know what everyone thinks. He did it 3 separate times. 2 times while he was trying to eat and once while he was just sitting there. Still no bubbles or anything this morning.

Can things like this happen if they're overfed? I'm wondering if I could have stuffed him full? He also pooped about 3 minutes after the last "spit up".

What kind of food was your tort eating when all of this happened? Our Sully has on an occasion “coughed” while gobbling down food. I’m guessing this is whats happened. All sounds fine now - i doubt vet will be able to tell you anything.

He was eating greens when it happened 2 of the times. The one time he wasn't eating anything at all.
I was hoping maybe the vet would do an x-ray just to make sure the lungs looked clear.
