Just had some high school kid call me and tell me “hey sorry miss your tortoise is DEAD and all over the road” only for him to ask me when he went missing and then say “oh sorry ma’am I saw this 3 weeks ago”.

How hard is it for people to READ the info on all of the posters and every post everywhere I’ve made? Let alone read the description or, better yet, look at the picture??? People are calling me about every dead turtle they find even when they’re so obviously not Curtis, but not providing any information other than “hey I think I found your turtle, he’s dead” until I ask more questions. Had one at 1 am last night, and you bet it was hard to get back to sleep before I had to wake up for an 8 am class.

I feel a little bad about chewing him out, but this is the second time people have called me about that specific dead turtle, and he was quite obnoxious about it.

The day people learn the difference between a tortoise and a turtle is the day I can die at peace.

Still no Curtis sightings, which I suppose is not the worst case scenario. Today we put out a $100 reward for his safe return and printed more posters, which my dad is putting out now.

Unfortunately it doesn’t look like I’ll have a ride home from college this weekend, but I’m trying really hard to get a bus to Dallas and have someone pick me up from there. It’s about 200 miles from here to home. I can’t get any of my work done or pay attention in any of my lectures until he’s found, so I’m really trying to get home and back to looking. He’s the whole reason I’m a Zoology major, so it makes sense that I need him happy and safe for me to do well : p

I’m sure Curtis is just happily grazing in a big patch of grass completely oblivious of his predicament.
Hello TechnoCheese, sorry to hear that you haven't found Curtis yet. I glad that you are posting a reward for Curtis, someone has him or he is still walking around loose. Hopefully he will be returned Home safe and soon. I would like to donate $100.00 to you to help pay reward or finders fee to get Curtis Home! Please let me know when and we can make arrangements to get it to as soon as Curtis is found. Keeping my fingers crossed for a fast and safe return.

I hope someone is going to these sightings as soon as you hear of them. That's going to be your best chance of finding him, getting to the sighting and scouring the area asap.
Yes, sending out people to look now! It’s been 2 days since the sighting, but having a direction and general area is great! Just trying to get more information from the person who spotted him

Good news, someone spotted Curtis walking along the sidewalk on the same street as our house this Monday! Curtis is most likely still alive and well, and it’s probably just a matter of time now.
You would thing that if you seen a large Tortoise walking down the road, You would time to stop and check it out. I sure someone would stop if they seen a Puppy or a Kitten.

Right? Someone else just told me that when he was in the middle of the road on the 19th they called animal control to come get him, but it looks like they didn’t even come out and when I talked to them they said they hadn’t even had any calls

I called them again, turns out they DID get the call and send someone out, but the person didn't find anything.

OMG, such a run around you are getting. Who doesn't stop and collect the animal, take it home and then try to find the owner. I could understand if it were native, but are people really that ignorant!

I agree, that's crazy! I can't even count how many lost animals I've dragged home with me. And some dogs are extremely difficult to lure and take hours. I can't begin to imagine not even trying to get someone's baby off the street!

And a large Sulcata. Wow, it wouldn't be hard to recognize and/or catch.

Right? Though people around here think every 8 inch red ear slider they see is Curtis, so I guess I'm not too surprised.
