75 gallon tank, 48x18 ? thats big enough for a little one for quite awhile., i've overwintered adults in 48x 18 plstic bins, with a small container of water , like 18x10, with a suitable substrate...... i've kept small ones in 20 gallon longs for years .... hatchlings tend to eat better when offered live bugs and worms, i get them eating on maggots...... getting them on quality fish pellets imo is a big deal......

Is that a heat lamp you have for them outside?

i use infrared brooder bulbs, inside and outside..... i keep these guys outside all the time to the end of october, we can get freezing temps for a couple days, and then 70-80 for 3 weeks.... i can see their pen from my window , it's important to know they got heat......

inside:

outside: the plastic i put on end of september, we can get in the 30's early october.... i can pull it down when needed...... they take 50's no problem as long as they can find heat....

has to be small, maggots from a bait store is something i used, small worms, small bugs, a good softened fish pellet , i have used mini hikari cichlid gold......

anything that needs to come in for the winter that is an adult stays in these bins, i just measured one inside 31"x16"..... hatchlings stay in a 20gal long aquarium.....

Oh I thought you said their indoor enclosure is 8x6 I’m looking at probably only May to October outdoors as well. He actually took 2 large mealworms so I’m thrilled. Gonna keep offering a variety. I have bsfl and earthworms on hand as well as leafy greens, fruits and veggies but I know they tend to be more carnivorous when young. This little one will be my only turtle so any space I have will be made for it but I’m going to have to source a premade enclosure. My building skills are extremely limited but it seems for the next few years stock tanks and bins will work

Manni's indoor enclosure is an entire room, they come in every winter , and can't go out until sometimes mid may...... the usable part of their enclosure is about 8x6.... an 8x4 part of their pond is inaccessible to them...... i have native turtles N.A. wood turtles, blanding's and eastern box turtles.... if i find one isn't acting normal when winter sets in, i bring that individual in for the winter...... if i find any babies, i'll let them go into brumation and bring them in before we get a major snow, or deep freeze, usually mid to late december....

would only be an opinion....... my opinion is, as large as you can provide....... the pic below is a bunch of people looking for r.p.manni, there is what they need........

I hope that’s in their native range, I could look for them in my back yard to no avail lol. Jokes aside, what’s a minimum to aim for?

the pic is a stream in nicaragua, those folks are looking for Manni (C.A. Wood turtles).......C.A. Wood turtles need land and water , they are primarily terrestrial turtles, they do like and need shallow water.... they are found around small streams, and swamps....... they need room to move and a reason to move ...... if a 4x2 is what you got , then that's the minimum, make the most of it...... minimum depends on how you feel about it, how cognitive do you think they are, and is it important........i've kept them in a kiddie pool, a 4' x 1.5' tank, a 6'x2' tank, plastic bins, a room sized enclosure and outside pens..... if you got a hatchling keep it in wet conditions like a baby box turtle , if you raise it like a baby box turtle it will do well..... not sure your location , but with the right setup they can be kept outside in northeast ohio from mid/late may thru the end of october, outside is HUGE, for any reptile.......jmo

I agree, I am absolutely planning an outdoor enclosure. My other reptiles can’t be outside ( crested and leopard geckos) but I’m hoping next summer this little one can have some daytime outdoors time. I’m currently trying to come up with a long term plan but it sounds like I have a few years to get things together luckily. I like to do very large enclosures when possible, as I get to know this little one I should have a better idea what will be best for it. It seems happy ( better behavior, eating , even basking) since I moved it to aquatic so that’s what I will do for probably the next year or so as that’s what the care sheets and keepers seem to recommend
