Please share your enclosures!! What size do you use for adults? Looking for inspiration for any age and to plan for the future
As the title states, R.P. ManniFor what species?
Big difference from an adult sulcata to an adult Russian.
It's a turtle.Perhaps you’ll like looking through this thread I made
Enclosure inspiration
Howdy folks! Hope everyone is well! As you all know, I’m a big fan of making threads that cater more towards visual learners like myself, I’ve really been wanting to create a thread full of adult enclosure inspiration for a while now, I’ve managed to find some great references over time! I do...tortoiseforum.org
I didnt see anything specifically mentioning this species and enclosure size from my browsing. They are a bit different than other turtles or tortoises. Its been harder than it should be to source all the required information to keep them healthy.Perhaps you’ll like looking through this thread I made

Unfortunately there aren’t many turtle forums these days and their care is more box turtle or humidity loving tortoise like rather than true semi - aquatic turtleIt's a turtle.
Ah yeah only read the initial post lolIt's a turtle.

Oh I’m loving that little snippet of the enclosure!! Do you have more photos?!size enclosure? the largest you can provide....... health wise, imo they are indestructible....... they are poor swimmers, they can drown if it's not easy for them to get out of deep water.......... shallow water
i keep them outside from end of may, early june through the end of october in northeast ohio, i provide a heated hide box , and a heat lamp over their water dish, which is a hot water tank pan..... putting them outside imo is a huge part of keeping them healthy...provide them with a couple spots to stay warm and they will use them....... they are the most plant eating turtles i've ever had, they eat anything green that attempts to grow in their enclosure....... they like rose of sharon , grape, dandelion, plantain, mulberry leaves and berries, dog food, bugs, worms , fruit of any type, sweet potatoes, softened fish or turtle pellets, they eat anything, i believe you could over feed them ......
indoor enclosure , i provide them with a pond, and a water dish under a heat lamp, they use the water dish 99% of the time ..... they also have a heated hide box indoors........ the usable part of their indoor enclosure is probably 8' x 6'.... the outdoor enclosure is probably 8'x3'.....

My only problem is I have cats that have access to the whole house ( and no spare bedrooms ) so I would need a fully enclosed terrarium in the house to make sure everyone stays safe and needs are met. Luckily little one is only a few weeks old so I have time but I should NOT have read the ATP care sheet that said a 75 gallonsize enclosure? the largest you can provide....... health wise, imo they are indestructible....... they are poor swimmers, they can drown if it's not easy for them to get out of deep water.......... shallow water

I feel like misinformation about enclosure size is way too common with all turtle and tortoise species...My only problem is I have cats that have access to the whole house ( and no spare bedrooms ) so I would need a fully enclosed terrarium in the house to make sure everyone stays safe and needs are met. Luckily little one is only a few weeks old so I have time but I should NOT have read the ATP care sheet that said a 75 gallonI’ll make an outdoor enclosure but finding a pre made one for indoors is going to be fun

I agree, I just thought that they were a trustworthy resource and at one point they were, it’s very outdated now. That was the only resource with numbers. I am going to figure out doing the best I can and going from there. Currently I am keeping the little one aquatic with wood to climb out on and it FINALLY ate after I switched from terrestrialI feel like misinformation about enclosure size is way too common with all turtle and tortoise species...
75 gallon tank, 48x18 ? thats big enough for a little one for quite awhile., i've overwintered adults in 48x 18 plstic bins, with a small container of water , like 18x10, with a suitable substrate...... i've kept small ones in 20 gallon longs for years .... hatchlings tend to eat better when offered live bugs and worms, i get them eating on maggots...... getting them on quality fish pellets imo is a big deal......My only problem is I have cats that have access to the whole house ( and no spare bedrooms ) so I would need a fully enclosed terrarium in the house to make sure everyone stays safe and needs are met.
