My goal is just a pair for now. After i “get my wings” with this tort hobby, i wanna move the hermanns and the established juveniles to an outside living area, probably inside my greenhouse. Then use the enclosure to obtain a “rarer” species and breed them also. Maybe Egyptians!I think he’s look to just get two for now? maybe a trio down the line, perhaps they could keep one of the babies once old enough to sex, that’d be nicethey’d certainly be a lucky trio in the enclosure @Mrgeez has built! It’s awesome!

Are you saying that 2 females and 1 male could possibly cohabitate?Dogs And Cats do great in Pairs BUT tortoises only do great in trios
Yes YesAre you saying that 2 females and 1 male could possibly cohabitate?
What size is the enclosure? Each adult hermanni will need around 4x8 feet, or more, if you want them to remain healthy and viable. Are you saying that 2 females and 1 male could possibly cohabitate?
Would you ever sell any of them?I am 70 Years old I've had tortoises for 24 years and up to date I have 67 tortoises most are in trios
66 sq ft. “L” shaped. I have space for 2, but can easily add on for a 3rd.What size is the enclosure? Each adult hermanni will need around 4x8 feet, or more, if you want them to remain healthy and viable.
Check in with torotisesupply.com to see if he has any larger adults or juveniles for sale. He won't sell an unhealthy one.

What are you Looking for in a tortoise?Would you ever sell any of them?
I am looking for a healthy pair of hermanns. From reading countless articles, i believe hermanns and russians are the best “starter species”. I am 68 and don’t think i have the time in life to start with a hatchling, hence i would like a breeding pair to start with. I only desire to breed this pair once, to learn whats needed to be successful. Then move on to another “rarer” species. If you look at some of my previous threads, you will find I am completing a nice enclosure. I was “schooled” by many members here on this site and have followed 100% of their advice and recommendations. What are you Looking for in a tortoise?
I'm 70 years old and I just bought a trio of Homes Hinge backs, So I hope I have time to grow older with all my baby's as well as the other 64 baby's! so always get what you want!I am looking for a healthy pair of hermanns. From your comments, I am already mentally planning to add on to my enclosure to house 3 hermanns instead of just a pair.
Do you have any suggestions as to where i can buy a pair of hermanns other than MM and tortoise supply.com?I'm 70 years old and I just bought a trio of Homes Hinge backs, So I hope I have time to grow older with all my baby's as well as the other 64 baby's! so always get what you want!
You May have to wait a long time someone on here may need to rehome them, but if you are still in a rush buy them there!Do you have any suggestions as to where i can buy a pair of hermanns other than MM and tortoise supply.com?
Hermanns are not "big" on the rescue circuit in the US. Russians and Sulcata are a dime a dozen, but not Hermanns. I appreciate you wanting a rescue, I never like to discourage people from rescuing, but you'll have to look pretty hard to find someone giving up a pair. Not impossible though.Do you have any suggestions as to where i can buy a pair of hermanns other than MM and tortoise supply.com?
I appreciate the offer but like I explained earlier, i would like to find older torts.I have 3 babies' I could sell to a very loving person
Maybe. But, i live on a farm for 35 years and am quite responsible for taking care of animalsSince you have never taken care of a tortoise, in my opinion, you should get ONE. only one, and get good at at caring for it, at least a year, then worry about adding on.
