Today my Burmese Star laid 10 eggs. Three of the eggs are very strange looking. This is her third clutch of eggs. She will be 6 years old in July. Does anybody know what would cause her to lay such strange looking eggs?

That just happens sometimes. I got a little tiny "baby" egg last year. I incubated it just for fun, but nothing yet.

Has it been six years already? Sheesh... Time flies.

I made a typing error, my Stars will be 5 years in July.

I would review the diet and soaking routines. Is there enough protein and calcium for laying females? Mazuri, clover, and those wonderful plantago leaves you have should have you covered on protein. I like to grow a little bit of my own alfalfa to mix in because it's high in protein and in calcium. If diet is all good, then how often do you soak? Once a week should be enough in most cases, but two or three times is better for laying females that drop a lot of water when nesting. I always soak a female the day after laying, and then a few more times over the next week or two.

If soaking, diet, calcium, and temperatures are all good, then I wouldn't worry. Sometimes they just throw a weird egg now and then. I'll try to remember to get a picture of my "baby" egg next to the normal sized ones for you.

I had TWO baby eggs. One from the summer batch of eggs and another from the winter eggs. The one from the summer batch has the pencil in front of it for size reference and a few other eggs that didn't hatch. You can see the broken shell fragments left over from the ones that did hatch. The other picture is a bunch that are currently about a month and a half into incubation. Due to hatch early June.

The eggs are so tiny. It would be fantastic if they hatched.
