Hi, Ive recently gotten my one year old greek tortoise to love their food, and the food is a very varied diet, they even like the zoomed grassland pellets, but im scared of them eating too much and growing pyramids on their shell. They eat everything i give them no matter how big of a pile it is, its a portion thats about their size. Is that ok? They poop every day and it looks healthy.

It’s incredibly difficult to over feed a tortoise, pretty much impossible unless they don’t have adequate room to roam, feed enough for him to graze throughout the day, it’s ok if he eats it all and some, he’s a growing baby who would forage constantly in the wild🥰humidity is key in aiding a smoother growth, what are your levels like?🐢💚

I read online that 70% humidity is good so ive been keeping it at that. I think thats what you mean by levels, right?

80% is more ideal, its normal to have a gradient in there, there should be areas in the 90’s, then closer to the bulbs 60-70, what kind of set up is it you have? Do you have a pic?😊

Ill get pics tomorrow when i turn the lights on, yes they have a gradient, they have a basking spot and i dont remember what its called but its a long lamp that covers the entire space. I only have a thermometer in the colder areas, but I can get some for the basking spots too. I just figured having the lamp 50cm from the ground was what was important.

You can't feed too much of the right foods. Tortoises are grazers. They should be able to eat as much as they want of the right foods every day.

There is a lot of incorrect care info out there in the world. Pyramiding is not caused by food. Pyramiding is caused by growth in conditions that are too dry. It has nothing to do with calcium, UV, or how much they eat, but you will see those things and many more listed as causes.

Here is all the correct care info, including diet info:
