My RT has a ramp in his enclosure that has a slope of 4:1 because I looked everywhere online and it said that was good. He seemed to be able to get up fine the first few weeks I had him, but now he's struggling. He tries to walk, but the wood is too slick for him to get any footing. Is there any...
The sides are really tall. 15" to be exact. I think the scratching I heard was him trying to right himself because he was near the side. This morning I again woke up to him scratching. I got worried so I checked and he was upside down in the same spot. He's been trying to get on top of this log...
I woke up this morning to my RT scratching the walls of his enclosure, that's usually normal though, he often gets up early and scratches the walls. I went over to check on him and I saw that he was upside down and not moving I thought the worst because I've seen videos of tortoises trying to...
Whenever my RT goes to the bathroom, it is always dry and powdery looking. It's white and it will either clump together with the substrate or it will be loose and have almost no consistency. I don't know if this is normal or if I should be worried. I've had him for 4 days, and he eats a varied...
I've been using 8" terracotta saucers. I definitely don't put it directly in the enclosure. But he climbs over the leaves and kicks up substrate while he eats.
I have a RT and whenever he eats, he gets substrate on his food. I try to wipe it off as much as I can, but sometimes I can't be home to do that. I have eco earth coconut fiber, and im worried that he'll eat it while I'm gone. I don't know if that could cause impaction or not. Is it safe if he...
These are all good things to keep in mind. I noticed that the whole saucer is soaked and is a darker color. So I'm not sure if it having cracks or seeping is the entire issue. I got them from Home Depot, I'm not sure if it's a quality issue or not.
I got a RT 2 days ago and I'm using an 8" terracotta saucer for water for him to soak in and drink from. I notice that after several hours, the water gets absorbed by the saucer and leaks through to the coconut fiber underneath. I know RTs need dry substrate so I'm wondering if there is any way...
