I'm going to be out of town soon, and I don't want to give my tort to someone else because its only 3 days (leaving saturday night coming back tuesday night) Previously, I have done this before and it was 5 days in the winter and they both did fine. Now that its a lot hotter than winter time, my dad thinks that I should use the white light that is non-uv (its just a normal light) instead of using the uv bulb because the water and food will dry up, and it will be super dry. Advice please?

thanks

How about asking a friend, neighbor, or a relative to check in? It wouldn't take long, and would be a better option than keeping him alone.

I struggled with this over the last two weeks, my friend had back surgery and I had to be there while his wife worked, and since it is across town I just had to stay. Mine did well up to 48 hours without me, I left enough food and made sure there were established cool sides with hides so they could escape 24 hour bulb time when not basking.

Don't skip UVB...just move the food far enough away, easy to do in a 4x8 enclosure.

I started transporting them and their food/lighting with me and using an aquarium once I had to stay 3 and 4 days. Not ideal, but will do in a pinch. I wouldn't suggest longer than two days without being tended to.
