Hey guys, glad to find this awesome place. Master Chief is a 6 months old Hermann's tortoise and I have been learning quite a bit about their care since I've had him. Like everyone one here I hope to exchange ideas and learn a few tips about tortoise keeping.

Here is the most recent picture of my indoor enclosure. 3' x 5' with Cypress mulch and coconut fiber substrate.

This is the bulb that I'm currently using, it's usually about 91-93 degrees farenheit directly underneath

I did a little bit of research before bringing him home but it was definitely a learn-as-you-go type of experience for me. With the help of this forum I hope to be enlightened by the divine wisdom and someday become a level 9000 Tortoise Whisperer.

Yes, thank you. I've been reading through and making some adjustments to my tortoise keeping repertoire

Hello and welcome.

I'm not a fan of the MVB bulbs as they make the tortoises pyramid. I'd switch to a lower wattage basking flood bulb and a HO florescent tube for UV.

The thing that really needs to change ASAP is those ramped bowls. They are a flipping/drowning hazard and many tortoises die in them. Replace them with terra cotta saucers sunk into the substrate ASAP.
