I've adopted this 9mo old sulcata in Oct. It was always on dry substrate, fed only Kale and no UVB. It already had some pyramiding beginning. I've upped the humidity, given uvb light as well as trips outside when weather is sunny. He is a voracious eater of all things. I was just wondering if his shell looks like it is evenning out or will it ever get better? I also have adopted another with extra scutes with same beginnings but he seems to be doing much better. The pic on left is when I received, the pic on right is today. The extra scute pic is of the small sulcata I received about 2 weeks ago but she said he was a year old as well but he is super tiny, but he eats, self soaks, and seems to be thriving. 20190207_145832.jpeg20190131_213442.jpeg

I'd love to see what the enclosure looks like. Would also be curious as to what you feed them, ambient temps, and humidity level.

When I get a good pic I'll post it. I have him in a 1ft by 5ft converted bay window. It's open top, I have eco-earth mixed with topsoil. He has alligator head hide that on cold nights I stuff with hot water soaked sphagnum moss he likes to snuggle in. Most of the he is buried in the dirt. I feed cactus pads, romaine, kale, an assortment of weeds collected from my yard and I buy those Timothy hay mini bales for rabbits and I break pieces of that up as well as soak it. He has started to tear up the black lining, so when we get another warm patch in Florida and he goes in his outside enclosure for couple days I'm going to black out the windows so he cant see out and get rid of lining. If the sun is shining he goes outside from 9am to 5 or 6pm. I soak my Russians once a week but this guy I soak twice a week and my other rescue sulcata gets soaked 3x a week. His backing temps are 100- 110 and cool side is 80. I know the humidity is high at 66 or 70% and I keep a medium sized terracotta as his water dish and he does self soak a lot.

Is there a reason you don't have the enclosure covered?

The outside enclosures are still a work in progress, they can dig up to 4 feet underground they have plenty of deep hides, I dont worry about raccoons or anything, I have dogs that love to try to eat anything that climbs trees... and they have free rein of the yard with access thru a doggie door. I do have a kids sandbox with a top I'm going to use in the summer and until he gets bigger
