Hello, my name is Eli and I live in Canada. I'm hoping to adopt a Russian tortoise soon, and so am doing a lot of research. This will be my first tortoise, and I'm very excited to see how the little buddy likes their new home! I am working with somewhat limited space and funds, so far I think I have a good habitat for a juvenile, but will likely have to upgrade eventually, so any tips or tricks to save money and/or space would be much appreciated! Thanks for reading!

Hi Eli!
Welcome to the forum. I have 2 Russians and they are really wonderful.
Here is so info that is helpful when getting started:
https://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/beginner-mistakes.45180/

https://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/russian-tortoise-care-sheet.80698/

That Russian caresheet is for adults and the big difference with babies is that they need high humidity like 60-80%. The only way to maintain that is the have a closed chamber enclosure. It makes getting a young tortoise a bit more complicated so be aware of that.

I recommend searching this site for "closed chamber enclosure" for some ideas on how to do it.

Also be aware that your tortoise will eventually need a 4ftx8ft enclosure. They need a lot of room to roam.

Getting set-up properly for a tortoise can be a bit expensive at first so make sure you can afford all the equipment before you take the plunge.

Feel free to ask lots of questions here. People are very helpful.
