I found a baby tortoise last night and need help figuring out what type he is.
I live in Tucson so I assumed he was a desert tortoise, but my dad thought he was a sulcata tortoise.
We live near a busy 4 lane road so I doubt he's wild.
He's a little smaller than the diameter of my palm. Amy idea on age?15666813706392204192424661143006.jpg

Sulcata, probably a lost pet.
If you were to guess, how long do you think that little guy was out on his own? Owning a Sulcata I've seen first hand how adaptive they can be. Still a bit shocking though when I read about baby Sulcatas turning up
on roads in the desert!

Hard to say because we don't know if his pyramiding is due to his previous owner's ignorance of lack of humidity or because of living on his own.

I live “next door” in Vegas. Definitely NOT a DT. Your dad is correct.

Definitely a Sulcata...
I've had both and currently have many Sulcata babies. I'd guess it's maybe a few months old.

I live in chandler and will be in Tucson next week. We have a sulcata tortoise and would be happy to take him/her if you haven’t found a home.
