I have InkBird now and am really happy with it@Ray--Opo I use this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01486LZ50/?tag=exoticpetnetw-20
Although a lot of people recommend this one: https://www.lllreptile.com/products/13883-zilla-1000-watt-temperature-controller
I have one and it worked well and is easier to use, but I like the nice temp display on the Inkbird ones. Hope that helps!
Order the 8 in plastic strips, cut them in half to create 4 in strips. There are enough holes to create a 1 in overlap. I love mineI’m about to order my door flaps from that website. What overlap did you get??
This member doesn't post anymore, but judging by the professionalism of the box, I'd guess it is connected to a proper junction box on the other end.I know this thread is old now but I keep referencing it as the gold standard of deluxe night boxes. I have a question on the electrical. How is this connected to power? I assume the outlets are connected to a plug of some sort? I see outlets and romex but what is on the other end? Is it just connected by an outdoor extension cord?
@Johnkoch can you share some pictures of what the Temp Stick shows you as far as data collection? I'm intrigued![]()
Hi, what is the machine in the corner? Is it for adding humidity? Also, is there a reason you did basking on the other side from the Kane heat mat? I’m starting to plan my first night box and it’s a bit overwhelming! Thanks in advanceWow, after two months I finally completed my Sulcata's outside night box. Moved him outside Friday (5/25/2018) night. Very much the same design as Tom's (Kudos to Tom, Thank You Tom!!!) also wanted to Thank Big Charlie for the info on the radiant heat panel and the Kane heat mat!!! This thing is a BEAST to move (8' X 4' X 44")!!! Another item that I found on line and added to my night box is called a Temp Stick. It's a WiFi temperature & Humidity sensor that you set high and low alarm points for both temp & humidity and if it goes into alarm it will send you a text, e-mail or both. It has an app that you download to your phone/tablet so you can check on current temp/humidity, provides historical data log, monitors battery life of the unit and sends alerts to multiple phones/e-mails!!! For those that want to monitor or get a little worried about the temp and humidity inside the box at night this is a great tool (only had it a week but love it), check it out at IdealSciences.com.
The box sits on my covered patio with two ceiling fans and a sun shade on the west side.
Anything I need to add/delete?? I have one question, I know the box should be at least 80 degrees but is there a temp that is too hot?

I have a question about the location and installation of your Kane Heat Mat. It appears that you elevated the heat mat on a plywood platform to keep it at a different level than the rest of the flooring. If I'm correct, then did you do this to keep the flooring substrate added off of the heater. Am I correct in what I am seeing from the photos and how is this working out. Did you place 2x4's or 1x4's under the elevated platform? Did you screw the Kane Mat to the floor. I'm also going to post a general question on the forum. Thanks!Wow, after two months I finally completed my Sulcata's outside night box. Moved him outside Friday (5/25/2018) night. I afraid, the thread author is not on the forum.
