First of all, I want to thank you for all of the helpful information you've provided so far.

He lives outdoors in San Diego. (Pictures 1&2), I have his insulated hide set up so the temperature never drops below 85°F. His enclosure contains grasses and some weeds that he enjoys grazing on.

I've also fenced off a separate 10' x 10' dirt area (Picture 3&4) that I'd like to eventually incorporate back into his enclosure to provide additional space for grazing and roaming. I'm not sure what would be best to plant there that is safe for him. I recently purchased a bag of Broadleaf Testudo Mix but wasn't sure how large of an area I should seed. I was also considering installing some of the grass varieties available at Home Depot. Any suggestions on how to best utilize this space would be greatly appreciated.

As for his diet, he's been pretty stubborn. Romaine lettuce seems to be his favorite, and I suspect it's what he's been fed most of his life. Currently, I offer a mix of romaine, spring mix (without spinach), carrot tops, celery greens, kale or arugula, cilantro, dandelion greens, and occasionally cactus pads. I also mix in the Herbal Hay from Tortoise Supply. As a treat, he gets cucumbers, which he absolutely loves. He also has access to a cuttlebone that he nibbles on from time to time.

Is there anything you would recommend adding to or removing from his current diet? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hello!

With grocery greens I would get more "chickories" into his diet: endive, escarole, frisee, radicchio etc. Occasional spinach is okay (no need to pick it out of Spring Mix, at least), just don't forget calcium supplements.

If to buy grass seeds, then Home Depot isn't the best stop. You need pasture seed mixes from farming supplies - less chances to get seeds treated or coated with chemicals.

I think some bushes would make a good addition to the enclosure. I don't know your climate well but check out if hibiscus or Rose of Charon will are suitable.

My favorite seed source. They tell you if its GMO or anything else you might want to avoid. They're great on the phone, will answer whatever you want to know.. And you can get quantities if you want such.
