Whompas is now about a year and a half old. I just looked at his baby pictures and noticed a difference in the coloration of the area around his mouth. I moved to Kentucky with him and January, and he cant be outside as often as he was in Texas and grazing. He is now on a diet of Mostly endive, escarole, romaine, aloe, and dandelion, as that is what is available in my area.

That's just staining from the food he's eating. :) Perfectly normal.

He's a beautiful Leopard tortoise. Do you find that he is shy or not?

I don't even notice the discoloration. Whompas (great name) looks to me like a real ladies' man!;)

He has never been too shy. Ill have him out around the house and he will come up to me even on my lap and lounge there, When he wants out of his box he will climb up to the side where I stand and try to climb out to me. I don't know anyone with this breed. I don't know what to expect of them.

Breed = Species! And if you don't know what to expect, then its all good!!! Just enjoy him. He's beautiful and I echo "Shelly's" comment.
