Hey everyone I got a new basking platform today along with a new basking light.. Once in the platform I noticed my younger turtle moving its arms and legs very fast almost as if scratching at something, he will not stop doing it .. Should I be concerned?? Is it due to the basking light heat??

You mean he's up on the platform, out of the water, and moving his legs around very quickly, but not moving/walking?

Yes he was on the platform ... I switched the light bulb back to my old one and he stopped I guess it had to do with the amount of heat the new lightbulb was emmiting

How far was his carapace from the bulb? What was the wattage of the bulb? I've seen sullies move their arms very fast when they are being held up and they are stressing out, but to move both arms and legs at one time is strange.

**sorry, I didn't mean sullies. I meant turtles. My turtle enjoys her new basking dock but I place the bulb at least 8" away from where he basks because it will get too hot for her.

My turtle does the same thing sometimes when he's basking on the platform. I think it's not something to be concerned about. Maybe he just has an itch. If he's not happy with the platform he'll come off. But mine stays on forever at times, even when he's "scratching".
