That's a good idea I could just tuck the shower curtain under the mattress on the top to hold it. If the heat is held in a little better/ longer should I set the thermostat to the che to 80? Or would that make it so there would be no relatively cool side in the encloser? The bank side and right...
The seed is just timothy hay. Got a huge 2lb bag off amazon. The plants are lucky bamboo. Which he doesn't bother with cause the leaves are so high. There's also wild strawberries in the front and spider plants but those are mostly gone/eaten.i find him grazing on the timothy allot before I put...
The back side is up against the wall so maybe the 2 sides? If I used curtains I could open and close and or partially leave open on the front. If I can get the heat to hang out a little longer I could give my heating bill a break from being on 75 all the time (in that room) although the ches...
Thanks. I'm realizing the heat problem. That metal fixture w the cage is a 100w che. Maybe another one on the other side will help with the heat?I also just thought of... since it's on a bunk bed maybe I can put curtains around it. To keep the heat in. First thought was plastic but that wouldn't...
Ive been mixing grassland tortoise diet in his greens like every other day and mixing up between turnip greens mustard greens escarole endive romaine water cress. And he eats the grass I planted which is timothy hay.
I have a fairly large tortoise table, with a (small) dome basking light. Under the light is 95 to 100 degrees. Which is good, but I think the majority of the rest of the enclosure stays around 72-75. Could this be why my tort stays by the light all day?I have a 100 w heat emitter but was scared...
Ive been going through the same thing as you. I've had my tortoise for almost a month now. And all they want to do is borrow. Not only is it winter although I don't know where your from its nice and cold outside where i'm from. Tortoises like to hunker down and conserve energy during the winter...
I was thinking about putting a trim piece around the top that overlaps into the encloser. I have noticed they look up at the edges for good places to get out.
Thanks. The walls are 12 inches and the vinyl tile goes up 6 inches. Unfortunately I don't have a hatch date but was told around 1-3 years old with a 4 inch carapace . The left side is Cyprus mulch, coconut coir and sphagnum moss and the right side is coconut coir and organic topsoil. I read...
Had an encloser that was to small for my russian tortoise. Still have more to build but this is it so far. Waiting for my 30inch zoo med led uvb light outtry was does to be in yesterday but I haven't recieved it yet. What do you think?
The plan is to make an enclosure with 2 everything and a dividing wall with a single opening that can easily be shut off. I've heard of allot of cases where they don't bother each other and do fine. Or they don't bother each other for 3 or more years and then can start showing signs of...
I know..I'm hoping i get lucky and they co-Habitat. I'm prepared to separate them at any sign of aggression. Also theyre getting a big enclosure outdoor and in.
I was pretty sure the tortoise I have was a Male and i'm pretty sure the other one is a female just wanted to know for sure. The longer of the two tails has a spur. That you can't see in the photo. I knowthe spur isn't a definite sign of a male cause females can sometimes have spurs.
