Normal?? The back of their carapace was not concaved two weeks ago... There has been no trauma, no problems, I'm sure it didn't happen suddenly...
What do y'all think?
The tort enclosure was smelling like something super funky... So I changed out the substrate (I'm thinking there was some old hay still mixed in there?). My question is, if cococair doesn't mold/mildew then, how often do you change it?? I've been keeping it as humid as possible, complete with...
Let's talk about growth rings... They are on the carapace, and they represent months, years, growth?? Do the rules change with age/maturity?? What does the differing distances represent between growth rings??? How are the different than tree growth rings?? Are growth rings on all species of...
I've discovered a new farmers market down the street with cheap organic stuff... Lots of beautiful green leafy's... And I eyeballed the radishes, tomatoes and avocados... And didn't buy any, because I won't eat them (have yet to find a good tasting tomato in Arizona) and was unsure if Bishop...
My husband and I are probably going to be closing our small restaurant this Summer, forever, in Arizona. We are talking about moving to Florida to raise our son an plant some roots.
The biggest question is: where in Florida to go? We want to be in the Gulf, North of Tampa, close to water...
And... Have a new day time habitat...
Hindu is at 87 g. And Bishop is at 91 g. I'm quite proud. They are about 7 weeks old...[hr]

After 6 weeks of careful deliberations and negotiations, the girls finally have names! Introducing (at ten weeks old) Bishop (who has what look likes a cross on his carapace) and Hindu (who has the dot)....
They have yet to be officially weighed, but, they've definitely gotten bigger - and...
For the girls.. And I find it ironic that I'm actually planting weeds and hoping they grow....
Is milk weed safe for them to eat... I got lots of that growing (apparently it hitched a ride on my mulch I just put down)...
That is all.. Amazing what you'll do for your 'kids'
Sooo. The girls are doing well. I've definitely named one "Bishop" because she has a distinctive cross marking above her head... The second name is still undetermined.
Here's the Q: they cuddle. That's how they sleep. I've configured their enclosure in many different configurations, trying...
SO, it's been a few days and the girls are doing great. A few questions:
How often should one clean the enclosure?
Do the kids need to be on a schedule? Right now, I get up, turn on their light, wait for them to start stirring (which takes awhile).. Get them their breakfast... Take them...
