Hello all!

I've been spending a bit of time trying to plan my perfect tortoise table. Some came out at ridiculously high prices, and with a lot of research I now think I have what I want at a price that I'm definitely happy with (£170 for everything).

Before I commit, though, I need to know the answer to a question that's probably very easy.

Which clamp do I need? The lighting is the hardest part for me. I'm worried about fitting it on properly, about a fire hazard...I worry a lot!

I'm looking to buy this bulb, from this shop:

http://www.surreypetsupplies.co.uk/arcadia-d3-uv-basking-lamp-100w.html

Which I would assume fits with this:

http://www.surreypetsupplies.co.uk/arcadia-reflector-dome-clamp-lamp.html

But that clamp comes in two sizes (140mm and 200mm) and as far as I can see I have no indication at all as to which one I'd need to buy. Help please?

That bulb is fine. I couldn't open the fixture link, but just be sure to buy a fixture that has a ceramic base. If you get the plastic base, it gets too hot and is a danger.

When you mount your light fixture, you need to hang it, don't use the clamp feature. The light needs to hang straight down, and not clamp at an angle.

Do you know why it can't be at an angle?

According to the instructions on the package, it shortens the life of the bulb. But it also sends the concentration of UV out further into the habitat.

Based on my limited knowledge - I believe the 140mm one can handle a max of 75W and the 200mm one is 160W. So you should go with the 200mm one. Very weird that they don't make that info readily available.

Thank you. :)

I did worry I was just missing it somewhere, but I checked quite a few different sites and none of them seemed to explain it.
