I have a question! I am looking for a list of fruits and vegetables that red foots absolutely cannot have. I know and understand what should be regulars in their diet and I do that, but we try to introduce new things to my daughter regularly. I would love to throw some of this stuff in to my tortoises as a treat on those days but I am afraid of giving them something that might make them sick.

There is not much they cannot eat from the produce aisle. The big ones are hot peppers and root vegetables (with an exception for shredded carrot). Citrus is not great, but an occasional orange offers lots of great nutrients and naval oranges actually have a nice calcium punch. They cannot properly process most grains and seeds, and should not have any dairy products.

Some things are not great. Bananas are sugary; avocados and olives are oily (and olives are salty); spinach and some other things are high in oxalates that we want to avoid but are not a problem in small amounts. Some people recommend avoiding purines (beans, etc.) and goiterinogens (cabbage, brassicas, etc.), and others avoid Iceberg and similar lettuces, but there is little hard evidence that they are a problem in a balanced, varied diet.
