I'm adopting this 10" male tomorrow from ATC. He has some pretty good pyramiding from when he was rescued 2 years ago. I was told that this tort was raised indoors on strictly dog food. ATC took him in as a rescue 2 years ago and put him on a real redfoot diet. They claim his new growth is really good. They also told me he is a big time "ladies guy". Lol. I think he's going to be a good addition to my adult colony after he is quarantined. What do y'all think?

Looks like one to me. A dirty one. Lol. I dont think Arizona Tortoise Compound is on the business of deceiving folks.

I don't have any doubts that this is a redfoot.

When Andrew of ATC showed him to me on Facebook, I felt so bad for the poor tort. So I've decided I'm going to take him in and give him a good home. The pyramiding doesn't concern me as long as he's healthy. He will be our other "special" tortoise. We already have a female that can't use her front legs that no one else wanted and she is thriving and growing strong with good smooth growth. We just want to give them the good home that they deserve. :)

Are you sire this is a redfoot?

Why would you think that it is not???

He is very handsome. I have three adult females that came to me heavily pyramided, but once they are on a good diet, they do just fine ;)

Really handsome fella.

Pyramiding could be worse. I think he has a really cool looking shell, honestly.

Thanks. I asked him if he had any signs of MBD but he told me that they had him Vet checked and assured me that he checked out ok. If they hadn't rescued him when they did, this tort may have not survived much longer. I just can't believe someone would raise a tortoise indoors strictly on a dog food diet. I mean really??? Not knowing their diet is one thing, but surely anyone with a right mind would know that a tortoise can't survive off of dog food alone. Ridiculous. I will say this though... This little guy will NEVER taste dog food ever again in my care. :p
