Hi, I have just had a new viv custom made for my Russian as an upgrade to her old 3ft one. I misunderstood the new viv height when ordering and didn't think the 2ft high was with the leg height included.
When the viv arrived I found 2 problems, the viv height being the first. I had already purchased an arcadia pro t5 12% kit prior to the viv being delivered. The internal height with sub and UVB installed would be just over 12 inches clearance. This makes my 12% t5 too powerful so will have to return that.
The second problem I faced was that since the whole viv top comes off in 3 sections, there was nowhere to install the UVB on the roof. I have created a wooden batten across the top of the inside that can be slid back and forth a bit to attach my UVB to.
So the question is, keeping the position of my basking bulb in mind. Would I be better off going for a T8 12% setup with reflector as the reflector angle can be adjusted and I can mount the T8 at the front of the viv and adjust to reflect at the right angle?
Or would a new Pro T5 6% (Arcadia lighting guide recommended due to height) be better?
But given the position of my built in basking bulb, I would not be able to position the Pro T5 at the centre of my viv roof. It would need to be put more towards the front of my viv at a safer distance from the basking bulb. But the Pro T5 reflector is not adjustable, only removable. So would the Pro T5 still provide adequate UVB from front to back of the viv (2ft depth, mounted 12 inch high) when installed in this position?
Or would the T8 12% be a better option under the circumstances?
Thanks.
