Hello to all ~ Sunday's paper had a good article I had to share.

Go to www.JSOnline.com
and search "Tortoise" the article should come right up (I hope)

He's such a cute little bugger ... and this only goes to show that they WILL eat anything they come across.

Enjoy!

p.s. Hofers is where I got Pebble :D

Cute article. Really makes you go to your yard and double check things, doesn't it?

Like you, I love a happy ending, but you can't help but wonder what that existing diet is going to do to the tortoise long term. That liver was like it was probably due to the food they were feeding him. And no one bothered to tell them that tortoises graze, and not on fruit!

Funny you mention that "fruit". A co-worker told me the other day "we had a tortoise but it died after 6 months". I was like oh boy. I got to thinking about that and talked to her more about it today. Asked here where she got it etc etc. Petco tortoise. Hummm probably wild caught - what do you guys think? And I asked about what they were feeding it. Lettuce, apples, banana ... but dusted with this powder she says. I am like thinking to myself - wow that's sad:( If only she had found the TF.

Great article, with some great people that truly cared for an animal in need. Thanks for sharing. Yvonne hopefully someone (maybe the vet) has pointed them in the right direction regarding diet now. :D
