I have a 5month old redfoot in a 60 gallon aquarium that'll hopefully last him until I l move back to my hometown. My question is, does he have enough air in there? I keep it a closed chamber (egg crate sealed with clear plastic garbage bags and I open it once a day to feed and bathe him. There's not a lot of places for air to get in and out (I leave a small hole in a corner), so I'm worried that he's not getting enough oxygen. From your experience, do tortoises do well in closed enclosures like mine?

Reptiles need less oxygen than mammals, and I am sure there is plenty of fresh air in there. The more ventilation you have the more you lose your warm humid air. My tortoises do really well in closed chambers.

do you specifically put holes in your closed chamber or openings?

No. I open the doors for regular maintenance two or three times a day and that's it. There is enough air leakage around the door cracks and edges, and they do fine.
