never mix species. they contain different bacteria and parsites, and they can infect each other with it. they might be okay for a little bit, but for long term, it is not a good idea. also the aldab will get MUCH bigger much quicker. Just put the time and investment into different area setups to prevent any problems in the future. your tortoises will thank you

No you can not. Well, you can if you want one of them if not both to get very sick and possibly die. That is what could very well happen. Either only get one or build separate pens. Plus, the Aldabra gets way too big to be housed with a leopard.

And besides all that...tortoises really do like being alone.

Is this true? I always feel sorry for mine when she's lying there on her own. I have a friend who had one marginated tortoise for a couple of years, and then got another and they're now inseperable when they're out of their enclosures together. Id hate mine to be lonely.

Its not at all true that tortoises "enjoy" being alone....In the wild, nobody really has a clue about their social patterns. In captivity, they often enjoy companions of the same species....Now, there are exceptions where males fight, etc, but for the most part many species enjoy friends.

Alabdras and leopards....Two totally different continents, completely different husbandry and feeding needs....Should never be mixed. Ever.
