Actually I pity the female aldabs, how come those males mount them and looking down just like that, like intimidating the females to stand still and not to dare move even an inch....

NEW RECORD // 20 EGGS IN ONE CLUTCH

Congrats Greg! Wow, 20! I've had up to 13 with my 30lb leopard, no way she could fit 20 in there :)

Some questions if you don't mind!:
Are you willing to share your expected hatch rate?
Do you wash the eggs off? They look so clean.
Do you keep the substrate moist/damp or do you just rely on the bowls of water?
If you keep the substrate damp, how? do you pour water into it directly?
Do you plug the holes in the bottom of the incubator so water won't go through? (it looks like you use those chicken egg incubators?)

I breed p pardalis leopards and I don't have great hatch rates, and want to improve where I can!

Thanks, Ben

Greg, on those cold nights, do all the torts go into the barn on their own, or do you usually have to bribe/ round some of them up to go in?

* 50/50. Sometimes a female will initiate laying eggs and we will leave her out in the field until she has completed and i will just carry her back inside the barn!

Do you wash the eggs off? They look so clean.

* I actually try and catch them before they hit the dirt. Sometimes i will wipe of excessive dirt, etc.

Do you keep the substrate moist/damp or do you just rely on the bowls of water?

* I initially mix 50/50 and add water to bowl during the incubation process as needed to maintain humidity levels.

Do you plug the holes in the bottom of the incubator so water won't go through? (it looks like you use those chicken egg incubators?)

* Yes, i us medical tape to plug all holes.

* That varies from female to female. We have had 100% fertility and 0% fertility per clutch. I will disclose that we have few in egg deaths these days and the majority that are fertile usually fully develop and hatch.

How many do you expect would survive?

* Hopefully all that are fertile will develop and hatch.

Just look at those little guys! Don't you think that house is a bit big for them right now? What do they do in there?
