Hey, what are the temperaments of the smaller aldabras like? from your experience are they pretty personable from a early age? or does it take a few years for them to come around to human interaction?

Ours seem to warm up very quickly. It just takes consistency and patients when working with these little aldabras. They are easily spooked. We avoid fast movements and wait until they initiate forward movement towards us. We had a large volume of hatchlings that we had to hold for four months several years ago and they were all eating from our hands by the time they departed. We handle our fresh hatchlings on a daily basis for soakings, health inspections, moving in at night time and outside during the daytime, etc. We do not initiate any type of hand feedings with them when they are slotted for sale, which is usually at thirty to forty days old. However, they are well use to being handled for care and maintenance.

HAHA. How long do they sit there waiting for spray time? Im going to assume this is a "nesting area"? Do they use it much or just dig holes whever like in your photos?

Every morning they get showers. That is not a nesting area, kinda like a big corral we can lock them into if we need to. That is also where all of the water tubs are located for drinking water. They also make big mud hole in that area as it is usually always wet! Nest are usually way out back in the large open field.
