What (if any) fertilizers are you using to keep the grass growing so dense and uniform in your enclosures? I've never used anything on my lawn for the sulcatas I keep- for me it's a constant rotation of access areas to let the lawn have a break. With all the big Aldabs. in these photos grazing- there must be some trick to keeping the grass growing fast (beyond plenty of water)?

Thank you, fact is we just irrigate only. Mainly to induce breeding and simulate rain during our breeding season. We never use any type of fertilizers, NEVER! I use commercial grade gear driven sprinkler heads that produce a 45 foot water spray.

Great day in SW Florida! Sunny, 81f, 78% humidity, and 21 mph winds. Also it is Pumpkin season!

Did you clean the pumpkin before feeding? Or did he already eat the insides?

* We do not remove anything from inside, just the top core/stem to avoid any possible impaction or choking. They will try and eat that also. They tend to eat the inside first unless we cut them in half. We do clean them before they are provided to the tortoises!

* Alfa is one of our male aldabras at our breeding program. He was recently acquired from a zoo (June 2012). We have keep a very close eye on him and feed him a little extra to ensure his transition and acclimation to his new environment is as smooth and less stressful possible. Today he had is usual helping of wet mazuri treat!

* And, yes he does share nicely with his girlfriends!

* They are a very gentle species. I have never seen one that was not!

That is Alfa and Miss Godley. She is our biggest female. They all get along very well, with the exception of an occasional tiff between the males!
