Hi all, been a bit but have a question. And, maybe this could be a possible answer for eye problems posted just before me.

I have noticed now, twice in fact, that after Smeagol has been out for his grazing/sun walk in the field, his eye is tearing pretty bad. Just one. He also has a very faint, sporadic breathing noise. Hard to describe, it is not bad. His vents are very clear, has a great appetite, and is very active so I do not think this is a RI re-visit. I was wondering however if they are at all prone to allergies. This usually lasts for a little bit, then his eye clears and it appears to be a non issue. I have also thought maybe he poked his eye, but I keep a pretty close watch on him, and that did not appear to happen.

If anyone has a answer to that one, would be great. Thanks for your help.

I don't have an answer, but I am wondering the same thing. I took my 10 month old sulcata out to play outside and he was very active and eating like normal. But then he started rubbing his eyes. I picked him up and he had watery eyes. So I took him inside.

Can tortoises have allergies???

I have a description for the breathing sound. Its sort of like when you listen to someone sleeping. Not snoring, just that faint, a little louder than normal breathing sound you make when you sleep. Now, reduce that to turtle size, then cut that in half. and you have it. sort of like that Clear.

My Sulcata is the same sometimes he starts to make a sneezing sound after i soak him then a weird breathing sound but his nostrils are clear and he still eats and poops like a cow very active moving around. loves collard greens, Romane lettuce, timothy hay and thee occasional strawberry. hes only 1/2 year old but has already had R.I when i first got him but its not really the same symptons. hes always wiped his eyes ever since ive had him
