Almost Cooked Tortoise

I over heated one if my tortoises today as I sat there watching.
It was sunning itself in the pen when I decided to move it to an area outside the pen where I have arugula sprouting. The location was in full sun but shade was only a foot away.
Not knowing where he was caused him to just sit there until he was hot I guess. When he finally took off (fast) I could see him bubbling from the mouth. Weird. I cooled him off with out incident.

Weird mine run for the shade no matter where they are. Is yours young?

That happens. Gotta be careful in summer. Glad he's okay.

I am thinking he was already near peak temperature when I set him on warm ground/full sun in a strange place. His caution kept him there until he was hot.
