Another amazing example of the diversity expressed by the Eastern box, t. c carolina.

I also think it's an eastern box turtle (Terrapene carolina carolina). Very beautiful! And I love the little "smile" these guys have on their faces. :)

How beautiful! Box turtles aren't really my "thing", but his face looks like the easterns that roam 'round here.
The shell doesn't though.

Shell shape looks a little gulf coast-ish but not out of range for an eastern. Some northeast easterns are shaped like that. May we know the carapace length?

The shell definetely looks gulf coast, but the face and coloring looks kind of like an eastern. Maybe a hybrid of gulf coast/eastern?

Otherwise, based on shell only I'd have to say gulf coast. Very brightly colored for a gulfie though.

Wow! I never would have guessed Gulf coast. I have 1.3 of them and they all are bone color with brownish skin and no pattern or color at all. He's beautiful. It will be interesting to see what kind of babies he throws. Do you have colorful females too?

Wow, I'm surprised! The head shape looks totally eastern. Usually male have large heads with long faces.
I too, wonder about the possibility of an integrade. Do you know the collection local? (don't share it, of course)

Very nice skin coloring!

Amazing! He's just beautiful. I didn't think we would be playing "guess what", if he was an Eastern. I only have one GC, my first, and he is starting to get wonderful color too. I never knew they could be so beautiful.

I too did not think he was a GC the first time I saw his head and legs. As for an integrade, I doubt it but I really don't know much other than the guy who had him had others and they had been with him for a long time. The plastron doesn't look like an integrade nor does the overall flat and flared shape of him. He is amazing!! Here is the female that we got with him. It isn't the best photo, but you can see her amazing legs and eyes. Imagine the offspring those two will have! She is very domed and round! We have another CB female GC that doesn't have any color on her.
