Sorry to disappoint you Jo, but the only Box Turtles I've ever kept are Easterns and one Ornate...just recently some Three Toeds, and now a Gulf Coast. :D My dream is to have a Mexican Box Turtle (Terrapene carolina mexicana)...but I have a lot of dreams.:(

The gcbt inter grades extensively with the ebt and ttbt but there are some really colorful gcbt which he does resemble but with out knowing origin I wouldn't say either way though a DNA test may help.

My GCBT is still very young, but he is showing more yellow on his face and legs each year. His shell has beautiful red patterns on it.

I thought inegrade as well. I definetely thought gulf coast when I saw the shell, but the head looked eastern to me. My gulf coast is of the very dark variety. Black skin, a little white on the chin, and a very very dark reddish brown shell. From what I've seen, gulf coasts usually have larger and blunt faces compared to easterns and three toeds.

Haha looked Eastern at first with the colors, that above picture with the flaring of the shell def leans me toward gulf coast, maybe even a hybrid? Or just one colorful gulf
