Hi so i have a very very large tort table for my redfoots for the winter but when i have to buy new cypress mulch or any other kind of mulch from petsmart or other pet places it costs over 100 dollars for all the mulch i need and i see at places like home depot sell huge bags for 5 bucks but it all has fertilizers and i dident see any brands that were all natural. so does anyone know where to get substrate that will work for redfoots and wont costs 15 bucks a bag?

I get my cypress at Lowe's. It doesn't have any additives or fertilizers in it. It's $5.99 for a 40 (or 50) lbs bag. The brand escapes me, though.

I use spaghnum moss mixed with sand (50% of each.) I get them both at Lowes. I'm not sure of the cost, but they are both cheap and in big bags so will last a long time.

Your local Ace hardware can special order the stuff all year for under $10 a bag I think, and no shipping. Lowes and Home Depot usually have it available as well. Don't worry so much about the 'all natural' bit- lots of people have used this stuff with no ill effects for years.

You can also try a bulk mulch or yard stuff store- most decent sized towns have a place you can load up a bag or a truck's worth for cheap. They also often have a more interesting selection than the pre-bagged stuff.

Keep checking at Home Depot. I get my cypress in large bags there. Yours might not have it now because it is winter.
