I have these 3 elodea plants seen in the photo, and ever since I sat them outside to get sun they have turned a lighter green and sunken to the bottom of the water. I have noticed though that they have new buds forming on them so that means they are still growing. Can anyone explain why this has happened and how I can fix it?

Perhaps the water did get too hot as Zeropilot suggests. Anacharis normally does very well in bright light and full sun. Maybe chlorine in the water used??

That may be the problem, when I had them under light in the house they were a darker green and floating on the surface of the water
